Boy flies to US for proton therapy after losing sight in right eye

A boy aged eight whose brain tumour was misdiagnosed as an “abdominal migraine” has been flown to the US for specialist treatment after going blind in one eye. Louis Ackers is receiving proton beam therapy, paid for by the NHS, after his parents battled for 18 months to establish what was causing daily headaches, mid-day sleeping and lack of growth.
