Cancer patients condemn charges

A cancer patient missing out on a free place to stay during treatment because she lives 10 miles in the wrong direction has called for a shake-up of the system. Betty Holt lives in Drummuir, between Keith and Dufftown, and must make regular trips to Aberdeen for radiotherapy sessions. But the 75-year-old does not qualify for NHS Grampian’s offer of a free overnight stay at the city’s Clan Haven during her treatment – because her home is 10 miles outwith the postcode boundary rules.
