CMOS sensors offer small-field dosimetry

Dosimeters that can accurately characterize small radiation fields have become increasingly important with the rise of stereotactic and intensity-modulated radiotherapy. Already used in consumer electronics, CMOS active pixel sensors (APS) are a potential solution. Now, researchers in the UK and Sweden have demonstrated their feasibility, in a comparison with conventional dosimeters and Monte Carlo simulations.
