NHS England turn down MPs road trip offer

The MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has revealed that he has offered to drive NHS officials between Stevenage and the Mount Vernon hospital in north London on seven different occasions during the day to prove the journey cannot be done in 45 minutes. So far, they’ve failed to take him up on the offer. At the moment cancer patients in Hertfordshire and parts of Bedfordshire needing radiotherapy have to travel 30 miles or so to Mount Vernon. NHS England believes that most of those are able to make the journey within an acceptable 45 minutes.
