Ultrasound can guide MLC tracking

The Elekta ultrasound guidance system Clarity can be successfully applied to control the tracking of a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) to compensate for prostate motion during radiotherapy, according to research from the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden. If adopted clinically, this tracking approach could improve dose coverage of target tissues during radiotherapy, without the need for invasive procedures or the use of ionizing radiation.
